Overview

This bi-stable latching relay is a heavy-duty electromechanical contactor designed for high-current DC power switching in demanding applications. Unlike conventional monostable relays that consume power continuously to hold their state, a bi-stable design uses dual coils and a permanent-magnet latching mechanism — a short energizing pulse to one coil closes the contacts, and a pulse to the other coil opens them. Between operations, the relay draws zero coil current, making it ideal for battery-powered systems and remote power distribution where holding-coil losses matter.

Available in 100, 200, or 300 amp continuous ratings with resistive contact life of 50,000 cycles at full load, this relay is available for 12VDC and 24VDC nominal control voltages with a 9 to 16 VDC operating range. Contact drop stays below 150 millivolts to minimize resistive losses, and the sealed IP67 housing (per IEC 60529) protects against water ingress, dust, and contaminants. Operating temperature spans -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, and the unit is rated for altitudes up to 50,000 feet. Shock rating is 6g at 11ms saw-tooth, and vibration is SAE J1455 Category 2 (4g, 10Hz-2000Hz), making it suitable for mobile and vehicular installations.

Typical deployments include electric vehicle power management, hybrid drivetrains, industrial battery banks, marine main power switching, telecom backup systems, and emergency lockout circuits. A minimum 100ms and maximum 400ms coil pulse actuates each state change, with up to 6 momentary operations per minute permitted. The open-bridge contact design accommodates both high-side and low-side switching topologies, and with dedicated close and open coils and no polarity-sensitive main terminals, this relay integrates cleanly into custom control circuitry driven by relays, contactors, or microcontroller output stages.
