Bi-Stable Lock-Out Tag Out Relay
Patent-pending mechanical disconnect verification with remote bi-stable DC switching for OSHA lockout compliance.
Visible mechanical disconnect confirmation paired with remote electronic control, built for high-current DC lockout applications.
Overview
The Bi-Stable Lock-Out Tag Out Relay is a patent-pending electromechanical lockout device built to satisfy the visible disconnect verification required by OSHA lock-out/tag-out procedures without sacrificing remote control. Conventional LOTO practice calls for disconnecting physical cables or actuating a mechanical disconnect switch to confirm that main power is isolated before service work begins. The Bi-Stable Lock-Out Tag Out Relay removes that trade-off, pairing an externally visible lockout indicator that confirms contact separation with the zero-quiescent-power operation of a bi-stable latching relay.
What sets the relay apart is its ability to mechanically break closed contacts and block re-closure once a padlock is applied at the external lockout point, following standard LOTO procedure. Control-circuit interlocks used in electronic-only lockout schemes can be bypassed or defeated; the relay's physical mechanical block cannot be overcome without removing the padlock, giving service personnel the same assurance as an unwired disconnect switch and supporting direct compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 for DC power systems.
Available in 100, 200, and 300 amp continuous ratings with 12 VDC and 24 VDC coil options, the Bi-Stable Lock-Out Tag Out Relay features a sealed IP67 contact system rated for 100,000 mechanical cycles in a shock- and vibration-resistant, bracket-mount enclosure designed and manufactured in the USA. Typical applications include industrial battery power systems, telecommunications DC power plants, off-grid solar installations, marine main power distribution, and any DC power system requiring both LOTO compliance and remote electronic control.
