Snap Action Rotary Switch - 16 Amps

Our snap-action rotary switch is a compact multi-position industrial switch designed for switching resistive loads in control panels, instrumentation, and industrial equipment. A precision snap-action mechanism uses spring-loaded contacts to break and remake independently of operator rotation speed — providing consistent contact-transfer time regardless of how quickly or slowly the operator turns the shaft. This snap-action behavior extends contact life under inductive and resistive load switching by minimizing the arc duration during contact separation. Rated for up to 16 amperes at 250 VAC and 250 VDC for resistive loads, this switch handles typical pilot-light, contactor-coil, indicator, and small-motor control-circuit loads directly. UL ratings include 16A at 250 VAC, 16A at 250 VDC, 7.5A at 600 VAC, and 3/4 HP at 240 VAC for motor loads.

The closed-construction stack accommodates up to 20 poles for complex switching arrangements in a compact panel envelope. Contact resistance is specified at 10 milliohms maximum (4 milliohms average), and initial insulation resistance exceeds 1,000 megohms. Terminal styles include screw and quick-connect options to match panel wiring practice, and 90-degree indexing provides a distinct position at each switch state. Dielectric withstanding voltage is 2,500 VRMS initial, providing generous margin above rated operating voltage.
