Detent Action Power Switch - 30 Amp

The detent action power switch is a heavy-duty rotary switch designed for panel-mounted control of medium-power industrial circuits. A precision detent mechanism gives the operator a distinct click at each position, providing positive positioning and preventing inadvertent rotation between states. Unlike spring-return control switches, the detent action power switch stays in the position where the operator leaves it — making it ideal for mode selection, source transfer, and other applications where the switch state must persist without a control-circuit hold. Continuous current rating is 30 amperes at 600 VAC, with UL interrupt ratings of 25A at 120VAC, 15A at 240VAC, and 6A at 600VAC.

Contact resistance stays at 10 milliohms maximum. A modular deck construction supports multiple contact configurations stacked on a common shaft, enabling complex switching arrangements — such as multi-source selectors, transfer switches, or motor-mode controllers — in a single panel-mounted unit. Both break-before-make (non-shorting) and make-before-break (shorting) contact options are available, along with standard and slip contact configurations for specialized sequencing. Rotor contacts use phosphor bronze dual-wiper construction for reliable wiping action over long service life, and stationary contacts are silver-plated copper with integral screw terminals. 

Panel-mounted with a 3.25-inch cutout, this switch shares its mounting pattern with control switch relays, lock-out relays, and latching switch relays for interchangeable panel layouts. Typical applications include motor control centers, generator set controls, industrial switchboards, transfer switches, and any panel-mount application requiring reliable multi-position power switching with tactile detent feel.
