Overview

This latching switch relay is an electrically operated auxiliary selector switch designed for manual and remote operation in utility and industrial switchgear applications. Combining a mechanical rotary switch mechanism with electrical actuation, it gives operators both traditional pistol-grip local control and remote SCADA or panel-mounted electronic operation of the same switching function — reducing the number of separate devices required for combined manual/remote switching schemes.

UL-rated for 15A at 125 VAC, 5A at 250 VAC, 3A at 600 VAC, 5A at 30 VDC, and 1A at 125 VDC, this relay carries the ANSI Device 43 designation for auxiliary or selector switches in power system applications. Contact configurations include both break-before-make (non-shorting) and make-before-break (shorting) options to match the sequencing requirements of the connected circuits. The mechanical latching design retains its last commanded position without the need for a continuously energized coil, preserving state through control-power interruptions.

This relay shares its panel-mount cutout and depth pattern with control switch relays, lock-out relays, and traditional manual selector switches — allowing direct interchange in existing switchgear panels. Typical applications include substation control, generator set mode selectors, transformer tap changer controls, industrial motor control centers, and any switchgear installation where local and remote auxiliary selection must be reliably combined in a single device. Standard mounting patterns and terminal blocks simplify integration into new and retrofit installations.
