Spectrum Industries offers a full range of surge arresters — including heavy-duty distribution class, riser pole, intermediate class, and station class families — engineered to protect transformers, switchgear, capacitor banks, cables, and rotating machinery from lightning-induced and switching-induced transient overvoltages. Our arresters are available in silicone and EPDM polymer housings for lightweight, non-fragmenting installation, as well as porcelain housings for the highest mechanical strength in exposed transmission service. Coverage spans distribution voltages of 3 kV through EHV transmission service up to 612 kV, with IEC Line Discharge Classes 2 through 4 available for standard, heavy-duty, and repetitive-switching applications.

Every arrester uses a gapless metal-oxide varistor (MOV) block stack with excellent clamping response and low leakage current, backed by 100% routine testing per ANSI/IEEE C62.11 or IEC 60099-4. Polymer models are hydrophobic and resist tracking in polluted coastal and industrial environments; porcelain models are qualified to IEEE 693 seismic requirements and available with extra-heavy creepage for demanding pollution classes.
